Had to DNF this around 1/3 into the book - and I normally don’t write reviews or leave ratings for books I DNFd but this case is different. I thought this was really well written, and it was a harrowing, bleak look at the MCs life and mental state. The “horror” aspect of it hadn’t really come in yet but I could see the suspense building. I’ve read both of the author’s other books as well and like how he always incorporates mixed media into them to tell the story. Unfortunately this book was extremely triggering, and I am a bit surprised that I didn’t see this mentioned anywhere before I read the ARC. I guess this was my bad but I was expecting a sci-fi, body horror, maybe cannibalism type of story and maybe it gets to that later but the first third of this was probably the most triggering thing I have read or seen in years. If you’ve ever had an ED, even you’ve been recovered for years, huge TW for this book.
