This was cute! It was a fun idea. I love the deaf and queer rep. Unfortunately I don’t think this was super memorable. It didn’t hit super hard for me. But it’s a fun and pretty quick read.

I wasn’t planning on rating and reviewing all of these, and I might not. But I just had so much fun reading this little book. It immediately took me back to when I was a kid. My parter knows everything about dinosaurs so it was really fun to look at the facts and artwork and see how our understanding of dinosaurs has changed since the early 90s. Anyway, reading this just brought me a bit of joy so I figured I should say something about it!

Heyo! This is just a random question, but do you guys have any "rules" for following people here (for example people with a great taste overlap with you or people you know from other apps/irl)? Since PB is not algorithm based I follow everyone who pops up on my feed but sometimes I see them posting some books that make me question if I should be more picky with the follow button 😂

I've been in a horrible reading slump for around two months now, and I've finally had a craving to read, but weirdly, only books with my favorite specific tropes/genres. The genres are books about knights like The Knight and the Moth or The Second Death of Locke, pirate/mermaid or siren/ocean-y fantasy type books, or books about music and bands like Daisy Jones & the Six or the movie Almost Famous. If you have any additional books that are great slump-breakers, put them here, too. Please help me get out of my slump. It's hell here.

Basically the title. How do y'all get out of a bad slump? I haven't been able to read in basically a month and every attempt to get out of it has just made it worse (trying to read in new locations, no distractions, a carefully curated playlist, a carefully curated watchlist)

Do you mark books as finished if you read them as a kid?
When I was younger I read so much. My mom had this thing where every time I read 100 books I would get a prize, like going out to dinner wherever I wanted or something. So I would burn through books because of that haha.
I read a ton of Junie B Jones, Magic Tree House, Geronimo Stilton, and in middle school picked up fun stuff like Amulet, Bones, and even Babymouse. I think (can’t remember right now) I’ve added some books I read back then like a Wrinkle in Time, the Westing Game, Charlotte’s Web, and more. But it feels different from the other books I’ve mentioned for some reason.
I don’t remember a lot of individual books, I just remember loving them as a whole. Maybe I haven’t marked them as finished because I don’t remember them well. I’ve been thinking of adding those kid books but I’m not sure if I should re-read them first so it feels more valid to me.
I want to know your thoughts!

Inspired by the pronunciation post- what's the origin story behind your username?
Mine was chosen because warm and wyrm sound really similar when you say them, so I thought it'd make a fun username. Also- gotta love some wyrms from fantasy novels.

When ur reading, does it matter to you that the author keeps the accurate maturity level based on the main character’s age? Recently I’ve read a few books that the main character sometimes acts very immature for their age and it doesn’t always seem to make sense or be justified, like for a character that’s having a trauma response or something. It sometimes just feels like the author forgot or didn’t put much thought into how, for example, a 25 year old may respond in the situation they are writing about. And it’s pretty much always a more immature response rather than a more mature for their age. I can get past it if it’s not frequent, but it may cause me to DNF a series if it continues. I think of myself around that age and I’m like, nobody my age at that time would respond like that. And then it starts to make me lose interest.

Boundlings, what’s your reading spot look like today? Any snackies or bevies in hand? Any car commuters?
I’m looking forward to reading in bed later during nap time with my kids. It’s the most peaceful time of my day. Sound machine on. Room dark. Kids snuggled next to me snoozing with my Kindle in hand.
