I’m really torn. Now that I’ve finished it, I get why people enjoy this book, but I don’t think it’s quite for me. I struggled to get through it, and I still have so many questions after reading, which I know is the point. I can’t stop thinking about it and trying to figure out the ending.

I also highlighted so much in this book because the prose really is beautiful. It’s because I struggled so much to stay interested in the story that I gave a lower rating.

I noticed this in the synopsis, but I find it interesting that Cyrus is called an orphan when we usually only use that word to refer to kids. It has me reflecting—could my 60-year-old dad be considered an orphan?

3.75 Definitely heart-wrenching, but I found some parts to be slow. I also struggled with all the NASA jargon and had trouble keeping track of the characters at times. I flew through the last 80%.

I felt like I wanted more at the end—it was a really abrupt conclusion.

Barbara’s character was also a bit one-dimensional. It worked well for the storyline, but it felt unrealistic for her to be that self-absorbed and out of touch.
