Proof that romance novels are for everyone...even your furniture? DISCLAIMER: These are not for the weak of heart and are usually pretty spicy... and very strange.

Really soft dnf around 30% mark. Nothing wrong with the book I just had others I wanted to read over this one and there was a long line of people waiting for it on libby so I just gave it back and haven't really thought about it since.

All I heard was "It's about a lady that fucks a door." I'm like cool, I enjoy weird stuff, maybe this will be super weird kind of psychologically messed up type shit of a book. It was not.
I read the description to make sure it wasn't going to be too crazy but it said the door eventually turns into a man. Which I was fine with, already a little disappointed but I was still intrigued. And it’s less than 80 pages so what could I lose.
The whole story is from his (the door's) POV which I thought the author did amazing at. (There are parts where once he's a human he kind of references himself in 3rd person? I don't even know how to describe it but it made things only a little confusing) I was immediately immersed into the world of being a door and I loved it. But not too soon after, he turns into a man. Yes the story was still good and interesting, but besides some very minor magic stuff, it was a pretty normal romance book. So the opposite of what I was expecting when I came in.
I also skipped a lot of the parts with her stalker because it was late at night and I don't like reading about women in danger or about creepy men. All that being said, even though the book wasn't what I thought it was going to be, I still really liked it.

Hot inexperienced man that whimpers and begs oh fucking kay🙃

“I chuckled, pulling her close and kissing her so thoroughly and openly there was no question he only had eyes for her.“ … Is this a grammatical error or is he speaking separately about his body?
Update: “Oh, right. I’d forgotten they hadn’t done that before.“
Okay not grammatical error but very confusing.

Better as an audiobook
Self explanatory ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I’m very picky with audiobooks and they aren’t all wins for me but these are some that I loved!

My kingdom for a standalone romantasy! Is this a duologue at least? Is the second book out? Harrumph.

How do you do it? My library often has the books I want as audiobooks with no wait, so I am trying to become someone who listens to them. Emphasis on the trying. Every time I try to listen I get so distracted by other stuff and miss whole chapters and important details. I think being able to listen to my books would suit my daily life and schedule a lot better, but I just can't seem to make it work!
Does anyone else feel that way?
What do you do when you're listening to audiobooks? How do you stay focused?
Edit: thank you, everyone, for the thoughtful comments. I will definitely give it another try with some books I've already read!

Listen to the audiobook LISTEN TO THE AUDIOBOOK
Anyway, I really enjoyed listening to this book. Super easy read. Not too heavy on the world building to where I wish I was reading a physical copy so I could take notes. I thought both narrators did amazing. I'm really picky and sensitive to audiobooks but this was top tier (especially the Scottish accent) AND the explicit scenes didn't make me cringe so that's a huge win for me lol. I do wish it was a standalone and I didn't know it was a trilogy (I think trilogy but only the second book is out) until I was basically finished with the book. But, I left satisfied in the end even though im 15th in line for the second book🙃.
Around the 85% mark I was pretty sure I wasn't going to read the second book. But then she gives just a little bit more Blake and now I'm forced to read the next book. I wouldn't say it ends on a crazy cliff hanger thankfully. I'd probably be okay if I never got to read any of the other books, but I'm very curious and confused about this tension between her and Blake. But, at the same time, was he just playing her all to get to this end spot??!
I don't think this book is overrated at all, not a 5 star read but I liked the story and I think the narrators added a lot to it! Blake and Callum were my fav :) I feel indifferent about Aurora unfortunately😬.

Chill but fast paced read, had fun hearing the Scottish accent in my head ( I kept imagining outlander style kind of characters) I’ll probs read the second book when it comes out

Omg. So good!!! I just hope this turns into a why choose, because both mmc’s are great. If anything aurora is the only one that annoys me.
