  • e-reader settings!!

i've been seeing this trend on tiktok that they introduce themselves based on their (kindle) settings. it's also a nice way to like get the ball rolling when it comes to bookish friendships and stuff. with that, i'll go first!

hi, i'm sparkle from the Philippines 🇵🇭! i have a secondhand kindle paperwhite 7th gen (which i purchased on facebook at a little under Php 3,000 lol). i jailbroke it, so i often times use koreader for my reads, mainly because I read at night and the device does not have night mode natively. I switch from dark to light mode depending on the time and if there is ambient lighting. when I have my backlight, I usually keep it at 7. either just off or 7. nothing in between.

i keep my font size at 9 😆 main reason i bought a kindle was that i don't have to deal with reading smaller fonts as it makes my eye strain. i don't use glasses, my 20-20 vision is something i really cherish so i don't want eye strain especially when i normally use tech for work. i have bookerly as my font, just because i have gotten used to it. i have my bold on 1, just because i want the text to pop a little bit. i usually just use portrait mode while reading.

although i have a big font size, i want to compensate with the margins to be as little as possible, and the line spacing to be as little as well. i show my clock while reading because i usually get in the zone and forget the time, and i have time left in chapter as well so that i'll be motivated to finish it in the time listed below. another reason being if the chapter is quite long, and it is bedtime already, i know better to sleep than risk leaving the chapter unfinished 😆

i guess that's all about my settings, what about yours? feel free to comment, i will follow each one of you lol

  • How do you pick what book to read next when you don’t know which one to pick?

I’m curious, I always try to have at least 5 books to choose from for my next read but sometimes I don’t know which one to pick, how do you usually pick?

  • Logging dates read on android app

this is basically my day 1 using pagebound. although there has been a workaround in adding my previous books through the webpage, i still think there should be a way for us to see the dates in the options. because the textbox is white and then the text is also white, i cannot see what date i have added. another thing i can seem to save the dates i logged through the app? the only save button i see is right next to "i can't remember" or something. please help, thank you!!

  • Tips for reading big books?

I’m about to read the shining by Steven King and I would love some tips for getting through this massive read!!

I think my plan of attack is to treat each part as a separate book. For example after I finished part one I’ll be done “book one” and I’ll read a little novella or short story before part two. I’m hoping this will work and when I finish the book I’ll be able to look back and say “not only did I finish this massive book, but I also finished all these smaller books along the way!!”

Let me know if there are any other tips that I should be aware of before attempting to tackle this please and thank u ✨✨✨✨

Ps. I’m reading this book digitally so my wrist doesn’t get tired holding it <3
