I've read this 3 years ago. I feel like I didn't appreciate it back then but I really liked this now on the reread. I fear I didn't get it before.
This was told in a series of non-chronological short scenes. Sometimes they continue but most of the time the "story" moves on. There is no clear plot, direction or even timeline except for the recurring "character" of the worshiped creepy hair deity statue (ogushi-sama).
It is really unique in that even if nothing really make sense, it's non linear and some scenes are so random, it all feels a part of the whole central plot. Some things are explained and some you just have to make your own conclusion. I think I liked the first part more but I really enjoyed it overall.
I liked the scary images and all the weird stuff. I will continue this series.

Now this is getting interesting! I'm glad I decided to continue.
We get to know more about the convicts and their background. I think Tenza and Sanka will be future favorites, they already have a promising dynamic eventhough Tenza feels like a character destined to die lol. Still love Gabimaru and Sagiri even better. Their new allies seems unreliable but I guess they gotta form a gang one way or another. I can't wait to know more about these guys.
The monsters/enemies we meet are compelling and so are the fight scenes. The sinister mystery of the whole island is certainly devious and intriguing enough to keep me interested in continuing this series. Definitely a priority.
Art is still phenomenal.

Plot is reminiscent of Vinland Saga / Vagabond (maybe I just think that because of the violence and samurai aspects). It's really nothing new and we also get a bunch of odd blood-lust characters. Rag tag group of criminal psychopaths with specialized skills and what not with a common goal but all also hell bent on killing each other. Sounds interesting but it feels uninspired.
I'm not really sold on it YET, but Gabimaru and Sagiri is at least promising and I have the 2nd volume so might as well continue. I think this is too short to form an opinion and decide if I liked it or not.
I'm giving this 3 stars because I love the art.

I watched the 2 seasons of this anime years before, I only remember bits and pieces now but I still remember how much I enjoyed it. At that time, I was even convinced it's the best anime ever. I loved every character, the humor and the depth of the plot. Certainly different from OPM which is arguably more entertaining but not better story wise and questionable character developments (I am currently reading it and enjoying it though). Comparing to Mob Pscho, it just doesn't hold up for me. This is just the first volume and not much happens yet but I am excited to get to the parts I know I'll love.
I can't wait to continue whether by manga or anime, I know I'd enjoy whatever medium I choose to continue this on.
Art may not be for everyone but it was a banger for me. It takes effort to look effortless. Mob looks better in anime though lol.

I surprisingly enjoyed this. Like so much more than I thoight I would. I don't really know anything about soccer, I don't like watching or reading about any sports in general so I don't have high expectations.
I saw some panels before that made me ask "Isn't that manga about soccer?" and intrigued me enough to give this a try. And what a ride. This is more on the battle royale / survival of the fittest genre side than regular sports anime genre (I think, I havent watch any except a bit haikyuu here and there).
And I ate it all up. This is my type of unhinged death game show (although all above board and stricly legal and really the only death is their soccer dream).
Art is insane too. I was skeptical at first because I fear the art won't translate well with me and would be better off to consume as an anime, but they were great. Idk why I question it when shounen is my main manga choice. Characters are not that fleshed out yet, but it's only the first volume, there will be so much more time to grow and I'm honestly excited to read about them. But mostly excited about the riviting games we'll be getting.
Obviously, I will be continuing this.

Oooh, this is interesting. I like that the violence is brutal from the start but also playful. It's not so serious and you get a glimpse of how it will be from chapter 1. World-building is terrific, it explains the meat of the plot in few simple sentenses that's also leaves mystery.
I liked Caiman and Nikaido as our main duo. I liked that we are privy to who and what they are trying to solve right from the get go. I would like to see more of their dynamic and I think the enigma of everything else will keep me reading. (The man inside is certainly compelling enough to keep me reading.)
The art reminds me of Choujin X (but better) and the world in Blame! A bit confusing at the start but I liked it as I continue. There are also some promising villains and enough quirky characters to keep me curious.
I might continue but will be reading online instead, paperback of this is so expensive.
