An incredibly well researched and orchestrated dive into wives who developed relationships with other women from the 1950s to 1980s. It was fascinating to see the parallels to conversations and arguments that are still playing out to this day, including biphobia and the fluidity of family structures and sexual & romantic relationships. It’s at times a very dense academic read, but includes some illuminating (and heartbreaking) primary source material. I appreciated attempts to include diverse stories as well, though there definitely could have been more perspectives included. Highly recommend to anyone looking to learn more about feminine queer history.

I was gripped the entire read! Tatiana Maslany was incredible for the audiobook. No notes.
