There were parts of this book I really, really liked and I think out of the first 3 books in the series this one gripped me the hardest.
BUT
My god the racism and fat phobia in this book are rampant. Every time Claire commented on a person’s appearance or habits I took what felt like a hit of physical damage. Like every time we met someone new I dreaded having to read their description to see what unnecessary racist bullshit would be used. Same goes for unnecessary comments on character’s weights.
It seriously took me out of the book it was so jarring and it was like 75% of the time.
If you can look past that, overall, the plot was far more gripping that the French politics of the last.
