  • Tell me your favourite item in your room and I'll give you a recommendation

This will be purely based on vibes. If you want a more accurate answer to something that might fit your taste also tell me what genre you'd like the book to be and why you love that item specifically. The item probably won't be mentioned in the recommended book, especially if something specific.

Your favourite item can't be a book, but it can be related to books, for example, a nook, a library decoration, bookmark. Other than this, it can be literally anything that you have in your room and you particularly love.

I'll start: my favourite thing in my room is the deer tooth I bought at the Celtic festival I go to almost every year (it's completely cruelty free, they just find some bones when on hikes, identify them and sell them).

  • What’s the worst book you’ve read because of social media hype?

Inspired by a few videos I’ve seen on BookTok.

I’ll go first with my pick: Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant.

This was soooo hyped everywhere I looked. Reddit, Tiktok, Instagram… The plot looked promising and I was told to expect building tension and full-blown horror! Instead I got bad prose, rushed plot, too many characters with boring backstories, and no horror. I’m still bitter tbh and although other reviews say Grant’s other works are better, I’m unsure whether to even try. I just wanted scary mermaids. 🥲

  • Digital Page Count

For those also reading ebooks, how do you determine the total page count for your reads? Do you do it based on the edition you selected? Or looking at last page of ebook? If so, do you choose actual last page after acknowledgements etc. or end of last chapter? For those using Kobo, what do you do since it doesn't use traditional page numbers?

I do love the system here on PB where we can select the cover and then format & page count rather than scouring through specific editions. I just need to figure out how I'm going to count the actual pages lol.

    Book Nostalgia ✨

I was talking to my partner about what we used to read when we were younger and what books or series are super nostalgic to us and I was just wondering, what are some books like that for you? ☺️ Are there any books or series that are really nostalgic for you or maybe really shaped you in your younger years?

For me I think it’s probably The Hunger Games (like probably 90% of my generation😅), I just reread them as an adult for the first time and it was soooo great. Really nostalgic, but also such a different experience to read them with a fully developed frontal lobe (I’m looking at you Gale 🤨) And also (!) the infamous Warriors series (or Warrior Cats as they are called in German), I was the biggest fan (borderline obsessed tbh), I’m pretty sure I’ll never read them again, but they are very dear to my heart ❤️

But anyways, what are some of your nostalgic reads? I’m curious! 😇

Saw this on my facebook and intended to sent it privately to my best friend but I messed up and share it on my profile for all my FB friends to see. It became a happy accident because my book friends (whom haven't talked to in a while) engaged on the post and we had fun on roasting my chaotic evil friends.

I'm lawful evil. You? alt text

  • AI in Book Marketing

There’s this book I discovered yesterday and it seemed pretty interesting. I had never heard of the author so I looked her up on socials and all of her marketing was AI. Like glaringly obvious AI. I’m talking AI had holding her book for her AI. The character art and graphics are also AI. It’s making me question whether I should read the book or not because it might be AI written or assisted.

My question for you all is: Would you read a book by an author who uses AI in their marketing?

  • when do you dnf?

i can usually tell when i’m not going to get along with a book right off the bat (be it the writing style, the content, the characters, etc.), but my partner often encourages me to keep reading to see if i’ll like things more because historically, i struggle with expositions and as a new reader, if i’m not hooked within the first page or two, well…

so, when do you dnf a book? when is too early to dnf a book?

i find it basically impossible to make it halfway through a book if i’m already trudging my feet one chapter in. maybe i need to work on this, or maybe life isn’t that serious 😭

  • POV: Your favourite library is burning down

    Hello my fellow Boundlings!

I was just sitting in the library studying for my upcoming exam, when suddenly the fire sirens started 💀🚨

This has inspired me for a little POV game:

Imagine you're sitting in your favourite library and suddenly the fire sirens start. You smell smoke, but before you can bring yourself to safety, you manage to grab one book to save. Which Book are you saving from the fire ? 👀🔥

  • Intimate scenes on audiobook

Hello all! I wanted to ask somerhing: how do yall read your intimate scenes? Idk how old everyone is on here so I want to be respectful). I used to do audiobooks but they’re just…too graphic. I’d rather eyeball read those scenes so I can imagine whatever I want. This could be because I’m ace. Anyways, how do yall prefer to consume these scenes?
