Oh no, ChatGPT entered the book š The Em dashes significantly increased, to the point where itās like every other paragraph. Main character is being insufferable and her fears and motivations are so underdeveloped and lazy.
The worst part is how COOL the world is, but none of it is explored or enjoyed. And I canāt STAND that MC mentions how long ago she was at this island every ten minutes and how she remembers nothing when she was 9 when they moved with her family ???
If you were 3, sure, but this would be a fourth grader like come onnn šš¤š½
āļøEDITāļø: Guys, I love em dashes and use it in my own writing, but it was hard for me to pretend with this section of the book that is so dramatically different from her writing before, which I did enjoy! Thanks for all the thoughts š«¶š½ this comment section got very heated and Iām not sure my thoughts, not review, that arenāt even of the whole book, just this section, deserves that š© I wrote this review at midnight and I woke up to being called rude, being sent to jail, and more. I absolutely agree that an author CAN use AI as a literary tool, but Iām allowed to notice that, right? We are all thirsty for organic writing in this desert that the book-sphere has become. Critiquing is valuable and important for a million reasons, and saying Iām just wrong is not stepping into the discourse. If you have questions or comments, Iād love to hear them, but please donāt attack my character for worrying about a very real issue in 2025.

So⦠I love the idea of having fantasy names. I think itās incredible and a lovely way to use our human creativity⦠THAT SAID, I think these names should have purpose and meaning, potentially with some liguistic purpose or at least some relevance to the fantasy world, not just a cool āwow I have a name thatās different because Iām the main character and this is my love interest who also happens to have a fancy nameā
Iām also a bit bored with all the similes and predictable quirky main character who is shy syndrome. Hopeful that it gets better!
