I really want to try reading this book but I suck at reading classics usually because the language is way too verbose and confusing. Is this book like that? Or is there a better version/retelling?

I should be reading my textbook but here I am reading a mystery book. This was such a solid thriller with turns at every step. I really like how the book is interspersed with podcast episodes that give an insight into people’s versions of the murder. The ending had an amazing climax filled with action and suspense and thrill and everything. This book kinda reminded me of None of This is True by Lisa Jewell bc that book was also podcast-esque.

I don’t think this book was for me. Sometimes the prose is beautiful but sometimes it’s overly flowery and confusing. I’m not christian, so the biblical anecdotes got tiresome real fast since I didn’t understand any of the backstory. The premise was interesting with the whole murder but some parts confused me. Idk if I just didn’t understand it or if there were some purposeful plot holes. Didn’t like this one.

I feel like one of those people who drink wine or coffee and remark on the flavors- There’s a distinct taste of “The School for Good Mothers” With some notes of “I Who Have Never Known Men” And a base of Emily St. John Mandel
