I’m conflicted with how I feel about Rin currently. There’s part of me that appreciates her brutality in the sense that it’s necessary for war and the position she’s in but at the same time it’s hard to get behind how cold and cruel she is. Thank god for Kitay keeping her grounded and in-check. I don’t think I could love him more if I tried - if something happens to him or their relationship I will riot.

I am so sick of hearing about Altan. I genuinely feel so bad for Rin with the way that relationship has impacted her and I need her to finally move past it asap - even though I’m sure she won’t cause obviously it’s not that easy. I cannot think of a single positive thing that came from her relationship with that man.

The fact that ALL of this happened before Bunny is so crazy and funny to me. Like Samantha was just suffering through school thinking she was the most miserable and important person in the world meanwhile her classmates were doing literal magic turning bunnies into ax-wielding bunnymen.

I don’t like Samantha, she’s a doormat. I get why Ava’s mad at her—ditching your best friend for a group (the Bunnies) you supposedly hate is weird. But at the same time, Ava could actually explain why she’s upset instead of going no contact for two weeks like they aren’t both grown women. And on top of that, Sam could just ask why Ava disappeared instead of pretending nothing happened when she literally had to chase Ava down just to get a conversation started.

Okay I'm assuming the weird sexual comments Sciona has been making about Thomil are meant to mislead you into thinking they'll get together, and I don't believe that's acutally gonna happen, but god help me if it does!! Considering yk she's a racist and his boss and he has not shown any bit of interest in her in that regard.

I'm not totally sold yet. The history is very intriguing to me and I genuinely want to find out the secrets of this city, but I'm not super interested in the main character yet. I get that she isn't necessarily supposed to be likable but I don't find myself strongly rooting for her when she's so anti-every-other-woman-but-me. I feel like in this sort of misoginistic setting, being totally on the FMC's side is kinda the point? Reading other people's reviews is keeping me going more than the book itself so far.
