I'm tired of thrillers claiming the main character is the smartest, most capable person on Earth only for them to repeatedly do the most stupid things they could possibly do.

Omg I did it!!!!!! This was such a struggle for me to get through, I think because the story was so broad and expansive and there was so much happening literally all the time 😂 Shout out to Andy Serkis & his narration tho, he was the only thing that kept me going and motivated me to finish this book 💕

I think this question fits here but I'll absolutely delete it if not!
For my NetGalley besties, has anyone ever emailed a publisher for a book they've been declined for? If yes, what the heck do you include in your email?
For context, I was declined for Scorpion Deep by CG Drews and emailed the publisher with a cobbled together email talking about how I'd really like to read it and my (admittedly small (about 430 friends)) following on Goodreads and never heard back. I didn't think I would but I've heard other people on the NetGalley community over on Reddit talk about how they email a publisher and get a widget, but I feel like people don't really talk about what they say in their emails. (I also know publishers are busy and don't owe anyone a widget for a declined request, I'm genuinely just curious!)

I'm curious about how many people on here use NetGalley too and for how long/ their feedback ratios/how often they get declined/luck with authors. If you get ARCs elsewhere, drop that in too!
I'll go first. I've been a user since 2021 with 583 titles approved till date and 138 declined. My feedback ratio stands at 95% and I'm proud of it 💪. For some reason lately I haven't been getting emails when I get declined a title, so I have to go into the website and check. I've never been auto approved by a publisher, but I do get emails from agents sometimes offering me "Read It" of e-ARCS. Aaand the only publisher that's never approved a single request of mine is Berkely. At this point I'm convinced they have me on a blacklist (though I wouldn't know why) and I've long since given up sending them requests.
