This is my first book in this series, and while I know there are multiple kinds of dragons I'm not sure which are which.

Are the wyrms here actual wyrms (serpent like with no wings or legs) or are they a different kind of dragon? Or is wyrm just a general term here? If so what is the nameless one?

This book is thick enough that the hardback could be used as a weapon - and not just a physical weapon, but one I metaphorically chuck at every typical man who writes fantasy full of rape and misogyny and queerphobia.

Samantha Shannon is truly a queen of high fantasy, and proof that your high fantasy doesn’t need to rely on the prejudices of our world to create tension, world building and darkness.

A Day of Fallen Night does not suffer from sequel syndrome - it’s even stronger, and better written than Priory which is one of my favourite books ever. I didn’t think this could surpass it but somehow it did. All of our protagonists, unique and powerful and in danger in their own ways, have a place in my heart. AND ITS SO INCREDIBLY QUEER 😭🥹
