This book was a stunning lyrically written ride through so many layers of trauma, identity, belief, and grief. A brilliant example of how to take a classic horror reference like the haunted house and use it as a framework to build something entirely different, harder, and more visceral to confront. Also the audiobook narrator did a devastatingly phenomenal job with this, so much care and craft on every level. This story punched me right in the heart and the throat and all I could say back is “whatever you need, baby.” 💔
