I'm absolutely obsessed with Paul Giamatti's performance of the audiobook. His choices on how to read certain bits of dialogue, especially from the old man during the electrocution are genuinely chilling and add so much to the mood of the story.

I've had a pretty rough/emotional week and could really use some uplifting anecdotes! I would love to hear anything that's brought a smile to your face recently.

For me, I was on a several-months-long reading slump but I'm back to reading almost every day even with my long work hours. Between reading, logging and chatting here on PB, seeing all of you reading too, and going through the various discussions, it's really helped keep me going ❤️ 💙 💜 💖

Nothing that’s happening in this story is kind or chill but I’m finding this audiobook narrator’s voice so pleasant and soothing that somehow this is still nice for my nervous system.

Wait guys.... She's low-key cooking here. This isn't your average shadow daddy slop. We seem to have a real and genuine connection between characters.

I looked online, but I couldn't find a map anywhere. 😞If anyone has seen one, please let me know.

It seems like a waste to create a huge world, with so many different races, but I'm sitting here with no context about where someone is going or how far somewhere is.

I know some people don't care about the locations while they're reading, but I'm the type of person that will flip to the front map when someone says they're travelling from point a to point b.

Or like:

It'd been days since he'd last been home, with his hunts taking him to the farthest reaches of Nyxteros.

How big is Nyxteros? Are there parts where the terrain is difficult to traverse?

There was another point where Zevander said he "crossed continents" to hunt stones for Dolion. So he probably had to sail then?

I digress. I just wish I had a map.

What do you mean both dudes are blond? I don't know if I can root for multiple blond adult men at once. Never mind the really important question of can I even make it through a fantasy romance without a broody dark haired man whose name I'll never remember how to spell correctly? I need them in this genre, for emotional support.
