Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo 🗡️💰🪦
“The heart is an arrow. it demands aim to land true”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Review: Wow… Just wow… what an incredible story, incredible writing, perfect morally grey charcaters & great action scenes! "A gambler, a convict, a wayward son, a lost Grisha, a Suli girl who has become a killer, a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse." is the perfect way to describe these six characters.
If you’re wondering why i gave this book 4.5 stars it’s because it took me 12 weeks to finish so that’s not usual for me lol. although, I was absolutely hooked on the book. But, when i heard about six of crows it was really overhyped only because it was a tad slow and not that jaw dropping factor i was marketed on tiktok lol but even though the first two parts of the book were slow it’s very informative and the lead up into all the action scenes so i didn’t mind it too much. adding on, this was my first full on world building book in a long time so it was a lot to digest. but as i kept reading the way Leigh Bardugo has the characters interacting was so absorbable and intriguing.
I definitely saw the pace of the plot get picked up by parts 3 & 4 which i loved! chapters 21 & 26 are probably my favorite chapters in the whole book. Kaz and Inej were the two i predicted in the very beginning and i was rooting for; which leigh bardugo has such a compelling way of showing romance in a non affectionate way and i LIVE for it!! Kaz just wanting Inej’s presence around and Inej not letting her relationship or feeling cloud her judgment in her life choices was just chefs kiss! & honorable quick mentions: these plot twists i actually didn’t expect AT ALL. the action scene with nina and inej are top tier. the way matthias and nina have the best enemies to lovers is everything & the fact that all of these characters are morally grey in the most perfect way?! like there is no changing these characters, they are fucked up for life each protagonist you loved and understood them so much!
definitely if you’re into the grisha verse give this a try, granted i never watched shadow and bone but i plan on i still wasn’t as lost as i thought i would be. it’s better to read shadow and bone to understand the magic and classes in the world better but it’s not totally necessary. and if you’re expecting a lot of fast pace action in the very beginning, don’t. leigh bardugo really makes you get a feel of all six characters & flashbacks are present in the book but done extremely well!
there’s themes of: gang violence, lots of crazy action scenes, high adrenaline moments, betrayals, as well as good dynamic romance like enemies to lovers & friends to lovers.
Props to Leigh Bardugo for such beautiful writing, i can’t wait to read Crooked Kingdom! 🫶🏼
