wholly different to what I expected but left me with a lot food for thought.

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐭 ⁣ at no point in the book could I predict where the plot was going, which was an interesting experience. the book is set up as a heist, but it did feel a lot less heist-y than expected, but I actually enjoyed the twist and turns it took, the ways in which the operation played out. it wasn't a clear-cut path towards the goal which is what is probably the most impressive to me about this book. the struggle and setbacks felt rooted in reality, very few things ran smoothly and the characters had to adapt constantly. ⁣ 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 ⁣ even though Luthadel would not be a place I'd want to visit, the allure of the dark, broken world was strong. the noble houses that could hide from the hardships of their world in their keeps; the skaa that labored under the worst conditions one could think off. all that made the small moments of joy more meaningful. ⁣ allomancy is a fascinating concept and I'm excited to learn more about it in the next books, I feel like there is a lot unexplored about it that Vin needs to figure out asap. ⁣ 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 ⁣ if it weren't for Vin and Elend I might have dnf'ed the book. hate to be that person but their interactions was what kept me going, something to balance out the pressure around Kelsier's mission. Kelsier was a different beast and i didn't understand until the last part of the book why i struggled so much with him as a narrator. is it an unpopular opinion to prefer Marsh over Kelsier as a character? even at the end of the book I couldn't really differentiate between the members of Kelsier's crew; Breeze, Ham, Clubs all kinda melted into one person for me. Spook and Sazed where stand-outs and I loved figuring spooks' accent out (not sure I always succeeded tho). but I must concede that reading the book for well over half-a-year absolutely played a part in my struggle with some characters. so not entirely the books fault. ⁣ 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 ⁣ I've been reading this book on and off since february. as someone who suffers from depression reading about Luthadel was at times hard, because the oppressive air of the city was all too familiar. nevertheless the world building was intruiging and Vin was a wonderful protagonist that got me through the slower parts of the book.
