I felt transported back to 2006 with this book and the way the characters behave. If you are the type of reader who really romanticizes masculinity. If you are the type of reader who likes male characters written for other men, if a guy who rides a motorcycle, likes to hunt, and has a gun is for you, then you've found your book, because he is all over these pages! The praise for a man willing to buy your tampons, the bar is on the ground!! Not to mention, the female character who is unironically described as "the cool girl" because she drinks beer and doesn't have drama. I am shocked at how this book has so many positive reviews. I enjoyed the first half purely out of disbelief at what I was reading, so it did make me laugh from absurdity.
