What do you do when you have the special "social justice" AuADHD and have parents who are pro-isreal while you're pro-Palestine?
This just happened actually around 10 minutes ago when isreal walked during the winter-olympic's welcome ceremony. I commented outloud about it and my parents dog piled on me as I attempted to make an argument for Palestine and why isreal SHOULDN'T be allowed to compete in the Olympics.
I cried, and ran upstairs (yes, I know) after they started calling me single minded and uneducated- a statement I guess I'm still struggling with since I pride myself on being at least somewhat educated. It hurt, a lot. And I guess I'm second guessing myself. Not on my stance for Palestine, never that, but on whether or not I'm truly educated.
They said I needed to read more on the "other side", that I'm too emotional about this stuff, that I need to stop caring so much and focus on stuff that actually matters. They told me isreal had a right to defend itself, and told me that Palestinians had a "eradicate-all-isrealis" mindset, that Palestinians should have banded against Hamas, and a bunch of other stuff.
I'm hurt, lost, and feel just really fucking stupid. And yet I want to prove them wrong. I want to prove them wrong so fucking bad it hurts, which I guess does make me stupid in a way.
So I guess after that long winded dump; does anyone have any recommendations on some literature that provides light on all of this? I know there are countless lists out there that are curated about Palestine, and I did take some books from there and added them to a list. But I want to ask the Pagebound community and hear what you all have to say. Sorry if this was too personal and if it broke any rules. Hope you guys all are having a lovely winter. :)

Check out Publishers For Palestine for some free Palestinian books!
What books have you enjoyed or are hoping to get to soon?
Two of my faves are: Rifqa by Mohammed El-Kurd The Moon That Turns You Back by Hala Alyan
And one that's very high on my list is The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine by Ilan Pappe.

For those who participate in book clubs, tell me about them! Are they small or large, in person or online, chill or structured, etc?
I am in an in person bookclub that's very small and just my three close friends and me, we read anything but horror basically and it's a super chill meeting style. We take turns picking a book, and we cycle bringing snacks also.
Then I co-run an online bookclub that focuses solely on horror, with more structure, and it's a lot bigger since we accept and encourage people to join all the time, it's also more structured and focused upon dissecting the story more. We choose the book by vote and do meetings on discord.

Hi everyone! I am looking to expand our BIPOC fantasy shelf in our library and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? We need the books appropriate for a high school age group, but some adult content is okay! (I will review the suggestions) I have made a list on my page, but would love to add more!! Please let me know if there are any hidden gems I haven't added :)

Hi everyone, we've been quietly releasing new features and quality of life updates over the past month on all platforms, please make sure your app is updated to see the latest improvements!
One of the biggest updates is moderation improvement. We have new tools for both our moderators (who run the PageboundGuide account) and for the community:
PageboundGuides will review all reported content and either:
What is archiving? When a post does not meet the Content Guidelines (link here, quick version under Account & Settings -> Posting Guidelines in the app) PBGuide can archive the post from the book forum. The post is hidden from the default forum view but stays on your profile and book journey. You can include archived posts in your forum view by changing the forum filter from "All Posts" to "Include archived posts"
The PBGuides have been working hard behind the scenes to clean up very busy forums (especially the readalong forums). We know this has been a point of frustration for many, and giving everyone the ability to send these posts to PBGuide for review is just one of many ways we will be improving forum quality over the coming months.
Other New Features & Improvements
Right now we are working on a huge, exciting project: Format tracking, stats, and monthly wrapups. Goal is to have this out in the next month!
You can always check the Roadmap to see what we're working on. If you want to support the continued development of Pagebound and add feature requests to the roadmap, please consider joining Pagebound Royalty (crown icon in the navbar)! Our Royalty members make it possible for us to provide a high quality, ad-free experience for all š
Happy Reading, Jennifer & Lucy
