I'm not a reading challenge person as I don't want my fun hobby to become a chore. The only thing I had was a mild book goal per year to boost consistency. But, since being blinded by the radiating whiteness of my past reads, I decided I should probably branch out and put more effort and mindfulness into reading in general - which includes reading from other cultures as well. Organically I have read from a grand total of 15 countries.
My parameters: Read a book from an author of that country; If nonfic, the topic must be at least slightly related to said country; And if it's fiction, have it be set in the same country if possible. I'm deciding to not be so hard on myself by adding the pressure of finding the best of the best per country that completely encapsulates its essence in pages (because what if i'm not even interested in the plot and i lose my purpose for even doing this). I'm also not sticking to a specific genre to keep things interesting and to help me from going insane. Admittedly this bothers me a LOT. Because a horror vs litfic vs a fantasy is just simply different - but would I rather constrain myself to only one genre so every book can be on the same plane or read many genres but have it be kind of a mess?? I need to embrace the mess (everyday I think I've evolved from the 7yr old who was obsessed with symmetry and categorization and yet I'm still a slave to these tendencies that i forget about and deem as "past" lol). What have yall's experiences been like?
Anyway, posting this for accountability. thanks. lets diversify our reads woop! (open to recs:))

This book captures the claustrophobic feel of losing the mundane tangibles and facts of which we hold onto (maybe subconsciously) to verify our existence. I think we've all (tori vega lol) thought ourselves into circles at some point about trivial things (or at least we tell ourselves it's trivial) with such intensity as though it alters our reality. The book's only less than 200 pages but it took me a bit to finish bc I didn't want to subject myself to witnessing a dude carry out the daunting task of having to think things out thoroughly. I kind of wish that there was an epilogue or something concrete for me to be able to fully visualise this book but hey I guess now we can think ourselves into knots about it
