Anyway, I absolutely loved this. Devney Perry keeps pleasantly surprising me with this series. Usually I get so annoyed when book 2 (or, Cthulhu save me, book 3) suddenly switches to a completely new POV that feels unrelated to everything we've been following - even if it all connects later. But here? It actually worked, and I was fully into it!
I think the shorter chapters helped a lot, too. And what I really liked was that while the world kept expanding and we were getting new questions, we were also getting answers along the way. I feel like I have read SO many fantasy books lately where everything is held back until the last 10% for maximum drama, and I just want to throw the book out of a window, so this felt really refreshing.
It didn't even bother me that it took a while for everyone to reunite - I was fully invested in everything that was happening, so it just felt like it happened at the right time.
I genuinely can't wait for the final book.

After looking forward to this book since last year, you could say maybe I went in with my expectations set too high? I was so excited to read about Tierney and Achillesā love story after the little bits we saw of them in the last book, only to fall a little flat. I felt like I never really connected to them. Of course they still had their really sweet moments, but some of their actions or reasonings behind their decisions I couldnāt quite understand. The plot howeverā¦. WOW. This is one of the rare instances where the plot saved the book!!! My jaw was on the floor more than once and I cannot wait for the rest of the books in the series because of it!! Overall, still an enjoyable book.
