I get that she knows her dad and everything, but it is just so disappointing to get this perspective of the dad's behavior. I would rather as a reader have to think through whether he means it as a test, direct insult, or if he is just careless in his speech. It is a little unfair to have a first person narrative and then be like "she knows what is going on in this character's head anyway"
