As a fan of historical romance, I found this book entertaining enough. I can enjoy it as a stand alone but it is well written enough for me to want to check out the rest of the novels in the series. I can't give it a full mark though because I think the author could've done better by being less repetitive in reminding the readers the causes of such poor decisions. I got it the first time it was mentioned and can conclude on my own that it's these insecurities that's preventing them from seeing eye to eye. A creative hint here and there would've sufficed instead of spoonfeeding it to the readers. I can look past it well enough but I would appreciate it more if the space alloted to these repetitions where spent more in fleshing out the characters and letting us see more of their attraction and chemistry.
