Iām going to try to keep this as spoiler free as possible. Iām going to be honest, this isnāt my favorite Elsie Silver book but Iām a completionist. This is an age-gap romance between our two man characters, Bash and Gwen. Bash also happens to be the father of Gwenās ex boyfriend.
Did I absolutely tear through this book? Yes. Yes I did. Did I love it as much as I love Elsieās other books? No. I think that it was mostly because of the pacing but this book didnāt do it for me the way I wished it would. I loved the last 3 books in this series and all of her other books as well so I was a little disappointed that this one missed the mark for me. It feels like everything moved so fast and right on to the next thing. I feel like the forced proximity of it all also didnāt really add anything to their relationship. It kinda felt like these two were like āIām going to avoid this other person at all costā and like actually did just that.
Now for the good stuff. Iāll give Elsie her flowers because the banter between the two of them is chefās kiss. AND THE SPICE???? Hot š„µ Some might even say scorching. Clyde was also so incredibly funny. His journey throughout the book brought me so much joy. I got teary eyed when he talked about his wife. I love how Elsie depicts camaraderie and a sense of community within each series but especially this one. The connection between the MMCs is so wholesome and healthy. Same goes for the FMCs, I love the sisterhood between all of them and how welcoming they are to each other as the series goes on.
AND THAT CAMEO AT THE END???? Granted, he wasnāt my favorite MMC of that series but I still love when her other characters make an appearance š„¹
