5⭐, actually you know what more like 6⭐ or dare I say it 10⭐. If I could give 10 it would be that.
I enjoyed every minute of this book. This book had me giggling and kicking my feet the whole time.
Adam 🫶🏻 I loved his moodiness, I loved his sarcasm and I loved how even from the start you could tell he cared about Olive.
Olive - I honestly have never related to a character in a book so much in my life. Not the whole science thing, but her chaoticness, her penchant for stumbling over words and rambling a little and this quote "Talking on the phone is the hardest, most stressful thing in the world, and I can't do it with the nice lady who schedules my dental cleanings, let alone with Adam Carlsen" - girl same!!
Honestly this book is god tier for me and Ali Hazelwood I think you've made your way into my favourite authors category!!!

oof that was a HARD read i'm glad they reworked pete's character so comprehensively in the movie because his backstory is so nasty in the book

at this point, i am so curious as to why the long walk was organized… it seems like mostly entertainment but surely there must be some kind of reason on paper to justify the whole thing. or maybe this is stephen king’s long winded way of saying that humans are malicious creatures that laugh at the deaths of others just so they don’t cry about the state of their own miserable lives. 🤷♀️ here’s to hoping there’s a reason presented soon.

loved it!! i kept the author’s note in the back of my mind while reading and i’m glad it altered my perspective beforehand. i could see how my enjoyment might have been lessened if it hadn’t.
we start with a big conflict at the beginning, so it was interesting following the ups and downs of that. my one gripe is that i found rue’s personality to be abrasive at times. the social anxiety and resulting behaviors i totally understand, but lack of flexibility and adaptation was super foreign to me. well, i guess i’m reading to widen my worldview so i’ll consider this a positive experience. but i would not want to be her coworker irl.
