I have to applaud the author. I absolutely love the mental image they create of the home and the town. It feels like I’m physically there.

I reaaally don’t like Jack. Then again, this is my first book by B.A. Paris so I don’t know how she might twist things later, but right now he honestly feels like the worst person ever.

This book kind of makes no sense. I really enjoyed the setting and parts of the general premise, but there were some HUGE plot holes in the story that just threw me off and annoyed me a bit.
I have to address the ending. What the hell? You're telling me they hatch this whole plot to keep him on the island to provide money for all of them and then just randomly kill him when he's only two books in with no prompting? It felt so rushed and tacked on that it just ended the book on a sour note.
Also, how did Morag get all the way to the cabin and back multiple times with no one seeing to drop off articles? And if she wanted to warn Grady, why wouldn't she just stop playing cryptic games and write him a note? I think the premise of a women-only island where they slowly torment men who have wronged them into insanity is cool, gives me Circe vibes, but I feel like it really was not executed well here. Grady experiences so many weird and random events that are just never explained, and it's never clear as to whether the islanders set him up or if he really is hallucinating.
