Damn… now I feel like I have to read The Good Samaritan first. I might need to put this book on pause until I know Laura’s story.
What do you guys say??

So far, this book is amazing. I’m completely hooked, and it’s been a long time since I read something this gripping and genuinely interesting. Well done, John Marrs!
P.S. OMG, I absolutely loved the mention of A Little Life—such a fun surprise to come across!

Man. This book was so hyped up I thought there was no way I couldn’t love it.
Spoiler. I didn’t even like it.
The idea behind it all was great. It was really the characters that I couldn't stand and they ruined what could have been a super interesting story. It’s hard to review this book without any spoilers so I’m going to be as vague as I possibly can be.
We were pushed too hard in one direction to blame one person that, when the twist came along, I found it so extremely underwhelming because I had been expecting it from the get go. There were a couple things that happened throughout the story that I didn’t see coming, so those aspects were fun, but the overall plot line really let me down.
There’s not a single character in this book that I liked, nor a pov that I was excited to read from. I wish I did, I even wish there was someone I loved to hate, but unfortunately, there was just annoyed and eye roll after eye roll.

Why is this so popular????? It was SO predictable. I gotta learn to stop listening to social media when it comes to book recs.

At one point in this book I was thinking "ok so were wrapping up now", so I went to see how much was left, and it was like 3 hours. Unnecessary

It was a good book overall, but I expected so much more from John Marrs. His other books are absolutely incredible, so my expectations were high. Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t for me. It was too predictable, and nothing really happened that truly shocked or surprised me.
