While it is highly celebrated in June, the Queer community exists all year long and this working list is created to support/encourage others to read more literature written by & represented people within said community.

every struggled to find actual lesbian/sapphic books when at the library or bookstore? so did I!

bc of said struggle, I started to curate a personal list of books that either has lesbian MCs and/or featured a primary sapphic romance.

i haven't read all of these, but I do try my diligence in confirming that they meet the above perimeters, since many books claim to be sapphic when they're not. this is an ever updating list, only fiction for now!

Books about asexuality, be they non-fiction or novels. Everyone should read at least one asexual book from time to time.

Rep is usually the main character but sometimes side characters. 🏳️‍🌈 ♠️

I have not read all of these, so I cannot be sure of the amount of the time on page of the sapphic characters or of the quality of the books.

Books in this list are in at least two quests. Thus helping to earn more badges. Books will span different genres. Once I scan through all the quests, I plan to further organize the list. I am thinking of creating a seperate list and moving the books with three or more quests to the new list and keeping the two badge books in this list. There is an epidemic of authors marketing their books as having lesbian characters but never actually using the word “lesbian” in text— or only doing so in a negative context. The following list is books that use the word in a neutral or positive context. I love being a lesbian and I love calling myself a lesbian!! Let’s celebrate this word as much as possible!! 🧡🩷🧡🩷🧡🩷🧡🩷

I’ve read dozens of stories with butch characters and yet it still feels like such an unexpected delight each time I see the word “butch” in a book. The more that younger lesbians and sapphics reject the word, the more I find myself fiercely clinging to it. I love being a butch lesbian. Butchness feels like home. Using the word honors the history and memory of the butch dykes who boldly walked this path before us.
