Recs if you like Scythe...

Disclaimer: I don't wish to bring hate to any authors, I deeply believe in democracy. However I think it's important for people who hold themselves accountable for their reading choices to have access to the information about authors/books they give their time and money to. These are authors who have publicly supported Israel or middle road. If you notice someone who may have changed their stance recently or supported Palestine and are here wrongfully please do correct me

books in which Death, or a god of Death, or the Grim Reaper (or a Grim Reaper), is personified. This list will NOT include the works of Neil Gaiman (ew)

A list of books with corrupt, evil, or just downright bad governments! I'm not sure how I ended up reading so many of these types of books (prob my love for dystopia) but here I am haha. Most of these will prob include taking down said evil government. I will update this list as I read more books with bad govs.

I'm sure some of these are already on your TBR, so might as well add some more! Let me know if I am missing any of your favorites!

Times are tough… Here is a list of books that I was able to find as free audiobooks available on YouTube or Spotify!

the staples of the book community on youtube in the early to mid 2010s.

The fate of the world rests on this teenage girl's shoulders. She isn't like the other girls—she was chosen by prophecy, fate, or narrative convenience to save a realm that absolutely refuses to handle its own problems.

If you're like me, you might have been missing out on some stellar books because they have been published as YA, despite them having more complex themes. I took to the PB Club and asked for your recommendations for books that fit that criteria; this list is a compilation of (mostly fantasy) books from suggestions from all of you! Please feel free to drop some more recommendations, all genres accepted just as long as they are published as YA 🥰

A small selection of the over 2000+ banned books recently brought to the attention of Texas' Lt. Gov and a conservative organization for their for "vulgar" material 🙄 including topics of history, race, LGBTQ+, gender identity, feminism, mental health, and sex education as well as romance, horror, science fiction, memoirs, YA, and classic genres. Aka my new reading list 💅 **Includes all the books I've read/on my TBR and other popular books, comment others if you want!!

"an imagined world or society in which there is great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post-apocalyptic. many of the people lead dehumanized and fearful lives"

dystopian: relating to or denoting an imagined state or society where there is great suffering or injustice.

Books with red covers

dystopian novels or short stories (if you have suggestions or think there are mistakes please let me know!)

edit: a dystopian book describes an undesirable society, and contains themes of oppression perpetrated by a tyrannical government. It is different from post-apocalyptic books (like The Road), which can contain similar themes, but lack the social commentary about living in fear of the government, lack of individualisation, propaganda, etc.

books so riveting and world build so immersive you won’t even have time to scratch your eyes into oblivion under construction- recommendations welcome!!

so you want a man to pick up a book? here’s a starter list that turned my bf into a reading machine (recs welcome)

A list of books set online or dealing heavily with the cyberscape. Suggestions welcome!

Dystopian young adult books

Featuring representations of the Grim Reaper, soul collectors, or gods over death and dying.

YA books that have suprisingly large amounts of tought-fuel. Recs are welcome!! (For series I only include book 1)

For those expansive worlds you can fall into.
