A picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes that applies to comic books. What could be more effective in learning the history of resistance than via comic books? Especially if you happen to have grown up hearing "comic books aren't REAL books." 🙄

I chose to classify as Francophone rather than French in order to include authors who wrote in French but were/are not of French nationality, especially authors from colonised countries. These are nonfiction recs that may be good for people just wanting to dip their toes into nonfiction.
