Basically, a huge list of every book I ever heard features sapphic characters.

I have not read all of these, so I cannot be sure of the amount of the time on page of the sapphic characters or of the quality of the books.

Some of these I do not plan to read at all, since they are not my style. If you feel like a book doesn't belong here, let me know.

All the YA Sapphic books that have been published (or at least most of them). The books in this list have at least one main character who is either a lesbian, bisexual or pansexual. I only put the first books in series.

books from all US states and territories. asking for recommendations! these books must a) be written by an author with a strong connection to the state or territory and b) take place largely in the state or territory. i want to try to prioritize, whenever possible, underrepresented voices / voices that america’s regime tries to silence.

All of these are from the list that Texas lawmaker Matt Krause in October of 2021 tried and in many cases succeeded to get banned from classrooms and school libraries. There are quite a few interesting and odd choices in there which is part of why I wanted to share this list on here. Not necessarily recommendations but there are some pretty good books on here. Because of the lesbian ex-tradCath that I am, here's a list of mostly fiction books uniting Christianity in its various forms with queerness, where both are large themes. Disclaimer: I have not read all of the books here, so if there are some that have been mislabeled, please tell me! Suggestions are always welcome!

The list of LGBTQ books used as an excuse for political prosecution. After the office of a publishing house was searched by the police, a list made by that publishing house surfaced online. It contained several LGBTQ titles published previously and a request for booksellers to dispose of them. The list made clear a reason behind the search – selling LGBTQ content (that is labeled extremist in Russia). It was later confirmed by newly started lawsuit against the staff of the publishing house

In October 2021, Texas State Representative Matt Krause initiated an inquiry targeting a list of approximately 850 books in Texas public schools, alleging they could cause "discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress" regarding race or sex. The list disproportionately targeted LGBTQ+ topics, race/racism, and sex education.

This is my project to read through this list for myself - utilizing my local library system for access to these titles. Follow the journey or join along!

Books that would help educate children about various important history topics, social justice issues, and people different from themselves (ie disabled, queer, or neurodivergent people).

Recommendations are always welcome! Fiction and nonfiction are fine. I would prefer more modern book recommendations. I’d love if you could explain your reasoning for recommending a bit!
