cities are for people, not for cars

My personal curriculum reading list for a couple of deep dives I have planned, all under the same general category of urbanism, intersectionality, and how to make cities better. This has been a niche interest of mine for a while, but mostly just a thing I watch YouTube videos about. Now I'm looking to dive a bit deeper! I'll add books as I build out my "curriculums" & if you have any suggestions pls let me know! I have a sister list about public transportation.

As an urban planning major and future lawyer, this is a great list that I can’t wait to send to friends who are interested in this area!! I would suggest adding the following:

  • The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs
  • The Color of Law by Richard Rothstein
  • Arbitrary Lines by M. Nolan Gray
  • A Neighborhood Politics of Last Resort: Post-Katrina New Orleans and the Right to the City by Stephen Danley
  • Race for Profit: How Banks and the Real Estate Industry Undermined Black Homeownership by Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor
