Malazan Book of the Fallen Series
The Malazan Book of the Fallen is a series of epic fantasy novels written by the Canadian author Steven Erikson. The series consists of ten volumes, beginning with Gardens of the Moon (1999) and concluding with The Crippled God (2011). Erikson's series presents the narratives of a large cast of characters spanning thousands of years across multiple continents. Now with all subsequent series, finished or not! I submitted a request but they're pretty busy and don't want to make too many quests that are just doing series. There's 4 other series in the world too, most of them not finished yet, so adding those then makes it too big of a world. So I made a list for now and we'll see if I can sweettalk a quest into existence
i just joined the app last night, and i'm really happy to see a small cluster of malazan fans here. i'm halfway through bonehunters and i've already turned into the kind of fan who's buying extra copies of gardens of the moon to give away to friends who express even the slightest interest, lol

I’m new to the app, still learning it (love it!), and I’d love to see the main series plus the companions as a Quest! I realize it’d be a massive undertaking, but it’s my own personal quest anyway and I’d love to have friends along the way. Was actually looking for it and found the List. No one in my ‘real life’ can be convinced yet to read it lol.

Welcome, I'm so glad you're here! Ugh yeah same I don't know many readers let alone fantasy readers irl, we really need a support group! Jennifer and Lucy aren't currently looking for quests that focus on just single series or authors, since they're quite limiting and Malazan isn't an especially popular series anyway, but if they are open in the future, it'll definitely be one I make 😍

I forced myself to finish Gardens of the Moon and started Deadhouse Gates after hearing it was way better than Gardens and just couldn’t get into it. I want to finish this series one day, but I’m worried it just might not be for me.

I fear it's the best series that's ever been written (that I've read) so if you didn't enjoy book 2, it's unfortunately not for you probably 😭
I’d encourage you to read at least thru book 3 if you can, I’ve heard that that’s when it really starts to engage people and connect. Also totally valid if not for you, but I really hope it’ll become more enjoyable for you. Worth reading 💖
I think my goal will be to get through book 2 sometime early next year and see if it clicks!

I'm happy to add! I know it basically becomes a free for all in terms of what to read after the main series, and several of the series aren't done yet. But I'll add what I know so it's all together Edit: done! They're all unfinished except Ian's Novels series 😭. And I hadn't seen the wiki chart, oh my lord, you could really go crazy if you wanted to read series out of order

🫡 New recruit in da house. Finished Gardens of the Moon a few days ago. I ordered book 2 and 3 after a few chapters and a lot of confusion 😵💫. I had to rest my brain after reading the first one and had to mend the character’s list because it was nearly ripped off. I’m back now and ready to be thrown in the middle of scenes where everybody knows what’s going on but me 🫠

Welcome to the cult club! It's definitely a series where you don't know what's going on 90% of the time, and I think I learned to finally accept that around book 6 😂. I hope you enjoy everything Malazan has in store for you!
Ty! I’ve just finished the prologue and chapt 1 and so far it seems easier to follow… I’ve only checked characters 124 times that is a good sign, right? 😬 Anyway I think the best approach to the story is being an observer more than a CSI detective. Let it unfold as the author is deliberately making it that way for some reason further than torturing the readers, I hope.
