yo vivo en espana y quiero aprender mas, que libro me reciomendas empezar con?
¡Hola Elizqbethk! Yo empezaría por Nada, de Carmen Laforet. Es un libro muy importante en la historia de la literatura española. Habla sobre los primeros años de dictadura en España después de la guerra civil (1936-1939), y ganó un premio importante llamado Premio Nadal. Si vives en España, también te puede ayudar a comprender mejor la historia de nuestro país. Un abrazo!

Hola! no hablo mucho español, pero Nada por Carmen Laforet me impactó mucho. El estilo fue un poco difícil para mi - pero el libro es fascinante. Me encantan las obras de Manuel Rivas. La lengua de las mariposas es mi favorito! Te dejo, amor, en prenda el mar por Carme Riera es un cuento hermoso y triste, con un giro bien impresionante. me encanta mucho Me gusta la poesía, especialmente Antonio Machado y Federico García Lorca (pienso que las obras de teatro de García Lorca - como La casa de Bernarda Alba - tambíen son excelentes). Quiero leer la poesía de Alfonsina Storni; "Tú me quieres blanca" me impactó mucho pero no he leido más de Storni jaja
¡Hola Ayzrules! Jo, muchas gracias por todas tus recomendaciones, las voy a añadir a la lista. A mí también me gusta mucho la poesía de Federico García Lorca, el Romancero Gitano es mi favorito :) Es muy trágico pero tiene imágenes y descripciones muy bellas. Un abrazo!

Hello Gracie! Thank you so much for your comment. I know maybe some of these books are not really a good starting point for Spanish begginers... However, don't give up! Classics have adaptations into modern spanish for natives, language learners or abridged versions, so that everyone can enjoy them. Even in Spain we read some of them adapted at schools because if not it would be really hard. The first classic I read adapted was El lazarillo de Tormes. It's a great and very popular story, i'm sure there is an adaptation you can get. I also suggest to check your local library, sometimes they have a good selection of books in foreing languages and some of them are specifically for language learners. :)
i forgot about bilingual editions!! i love them when reading english poetry, they are sooo helpful, maybe there are some for spanish classics too :D
I'll definitely look into it!! Learning Spanish is more aspiration than reality at the moment but reading some adaptations/bilingual editions/etc would be a fun way to keep learning!!
The first full-length book in Spanish i read across all my classes was Como agua para chocolate (Like Water For Chocolate), if it's a helpful starting point? I also loved Coser y Cantar, which is a play by Dolores Prida that i read the same semester we did Como agua! It switches in and out of Spanish to Make A Point (TM) but lowkey having the english helps with comprehension on the spanish too lol

For sure! <3 I write in all the copies of the spanish books i own, similar to English there's a lot of random phrases that don't come up in regular vocabulary lessons or everyday convos (like "reírse entre dientes" for something that's the equivalent of "chuckle") so making note of some of that stuff was and continues to be helpful haha
That's so smart! It's so hard to learn all of the words and phrases that are almost exclusive to literature and conversation 😵💫
