It's been a while for me, but when I was in college, I actually did a research paper on Chernobyl (specifically now it impacted the movement/migration of people)!! I read Voices from Chernobyl by Svetlana Alexiévich, which is a compilation of oral accounts of the disaster and how it impacted various people. Another read that was very fascinating is Memories of a Meltdown: An Egyptian between Moscow and Chernobyl by Mohamed Makhzangi, which is about the author's experience living in Kiev at the time. I honestly forgot about the second one because I never logged it on any reading apps, but this list unlocked a memory!!
