Coming to recommend Morgan Dante, especially Providence Girls and Unholy with Eyes like Wolves! Also House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson!! The Reformatory by Tananarive Due is also an incredible read!
I added some of these, although I want to save some of these recs for the queer horror romance list I eventually want to create đź‘€Do you know if The Reformatory has any fantasy elements? I haven't read it before.

I don’t remember if it stated an exact year but it is post civil war/pre-1900.
I recently got a copy of this book and thought of this list, The Rotting Room: A Historical Horror Novel by Viggy Parr Hampton.

No worries, at all! This list is hard to find matches for because it is very niche, it appears. A lot of it is vampires (even tho I lowkey hate vampires) but I'm always open to suggestions.
