yesss, please give me all the recs🤓

Are you only including books where the universe breaks for everyone, or also books where it breaks mainly for the protagonists?

both! though primarily I've tried to focus on books where alternate realities or multiverses are more like layered timelines, where every timeline shows a different version of reality (for example if different choices had been made either historically or by the character(s) we're following)

Then I think Japanese Gothic by Kylie Lee Baker would fit this perfectly!

I am also excited to read more from this list. May I also humbly suggest Life After Life by Kate Atkinson as an addition. Somewhat groundhog day-esque.

omg I'm so glad to hear it!!😍 and thank you so much for the rec! I've looked into Life After Life by Kate Atkinson, but I got the sense that it was more like a time loop than multiple layered realities. Is that not right?🩷

Kind of, but they also throw in some aspect of the overlapping realities by knowing to have a certain pair of scissors handy or to stop a scullery servant from going into town so she doesn’t get the flu. It was similar to begin again, except that when she relived her lives she didn’t have full cognition that she was reliving her life, just flashes and instincts to not be in the wrong place.
