what are these characters becoming? who is to say! these are different works across fiction in which the main character, or a large subset of characters, go through a physical transformation(s) of some sort.

i’ve had shark heart sitting on my shelf for quite a while (had to get it after i watched a video that talked about it). it’s what inspired me to make this list because i was like there has to be more fiction books where a character just transforms into something crazy

i would so be down at some point! not for at least 1-2 months since there’s no way i could get through it before New Years but i will remind us again in Jan/Feb so see where we’re at (as long as one of us remembers 😭)

if you're okay with transformation that isn't necessarily limited to characters, can i suggest gyo by ito junji? it's a bit of a trip, and there's a lot of weirdness and transforming happening!
