thank you! one of my favourite microgenres, and one that gets a lot of criticism for being superficial or 'navel-gazing'. my take is there's a whole lot of sad man litfic out there that also focuses on despair and intimacy, but it's canonised as profound and never receives the same scorn.
YES to this 100% - a [cis] man being introspective is profound, anyone else being introspective is indulgent and self-important
