I would suggest Assassin's Apprentice (as a stand in for the Realm of the Elderlings as a whole). It is always referred to as cozy, but I think that is a huge mistake. So much tension and high stakes for something that feels so cozy and is very character driven.

Yeah Realm of the Elderlings has been on my tbr for ages but I'm lowkey scared to start it 😭 I don't do well with sad books

In my opinion, the hardships and triumphs are truly moving and don't leave you melancholy.
