This is so awesome!! I'd recommend checking out Exile and Pride by Eli Clare too. Not every essay is exclusively about rurality, but it is a heavy focus! It deals with the intersections of growing up rural, living in the city later, queerness, and disability!

(Iâm so excited to see your other recommendations as someone who grew up in and among rural areas Iâm so excited to dive into some of these books!!)
oh i didn't notice that it was instantaneous! i added a few books:) i'm also trying to find them in different languages so that people can have access to more of my list (a lot of it is in french as it is my mother tongue). I'm super excited to know that you are also super interested in this!!!! i'm actually doing my thesis on the subject:) Also if you are interested i have an essay that i published last year in in a collective publication on rurality and gossip, its not online but i could send it to you if you want (there are a few other essays on there that might interest you as well)
omg!!! yes please!!! (i also love to learn about gossip itself!! i recommend Normal Gossip, a podcast with anonymized gossip, itâs definitely more of an entertainment podcast but itâs interesting to hear how different people talk about what gossip means to them.)
