hey guys! so i'm trying to add the nyrb classics version of Down Below by Leonora Carrington (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38458187-down-below), however it's not adding even though i waited overnight. is it because there's already a different edition in the database? i just wanted to add the nyrb edition because it's the one i actually read + its longer with an introduction :)

hmm i feel exactly the same way about this as i do about his other work, beware of pity. he's an incredible writer and i absolutely love the way he constructs even simple thoughts. im just so-so on the actual plot (which i'm honestly fine with, because of his great writing). i do want to reread this again one day, though! and i'll be reading the post-office girl next.

I'm a fidgeter. I'm always doing something with my hands, even while reading. I remembered I have StickyTack putty around and I decided to try using it as a fidget while I read (so far successful). But that made me wonder, does anyone else do this too? What's your favorite fidget or way to calm your hands while you read?

my attention span is so bad right now and i can only really go an hour max before needing a phone break lol. i'm trying to work myself up to be able to do a 12 hr readathon (prob broken up into two 6 hr intervals) just for fun.

Hihi! After seeing reels about PageBound on socials and having a friend recommend it, I decided to pop over! I love seeing people chat about things they love, so I figured it could be fun :) After being a super avid reader as a teen, I ended up taking a years-long hiatus from reading to pursue other hobbies despite my utter love for books. At the top of 2025 and after a lot of procrastinating and failing, I decided to take a leap of faith and dive into Babel by R.F. Kuang, mostly by intrigue of the front cover illustration and the book flap synopsis/blurb. It was difficult, I won't lie, it's a really dense book to try to start out with after a while of not reading at all, but it did kickstart my first reading year in a while and I ended up really liking it! Maybe conquering a book of its length made me feel brave enough to keep going~ For anyone who's dealt with prolonged reading slumps/hiatuses, I'm curious, what book sort of brought you back into reading again? Is there a particular reason why that book did it for you?

hey all!! i've truly never read anything purely romantasy, everything i've been exposed to online so far has never managed to catch my interest. however i looove when it's a subplot in a serious book. like... i want the romance to have meaning within the story but it doesn't have to fit into the romance genre per se. also gahh the writing has to be good lol. hopefully this makes sense!!
