Books that deserve a Studio Ghibli movie
These are all books I feel the art style and storytelling of Studio Ghibli would make magical!

i'm looking for books with absent father dynamics.
i’ve dealt with it since i was a kid and i realised i’ve never really read a book where it’s explored as more than just a character’s backstory. most of the time it’s mentioned once and then everyone moves on. i want to read about a character who’s still carrying that absence around with them. i want to see how it shapes them and affects the way they move through life.
any genre is welcome. i’d just prefer fiction since i’m not much of a non-fiction reader. i just want something where it’s an actual part of the story and not just a detail thrown in for character development. thank you all in advance!

Last day of MAY✨🤪 what was your favorite book you finished this month?

So tomorrow is pride month, and I just wanted to ask: what are some queer books you‘ve read that you find incredibly underrrated?
(For me The Works of Vermin is a criminally underrated book)

Sorry for the delay (life has been busy). Hope yall ready.. what’s a complaint you’ve had over the last week or so (no matter how big, small, dramatic, serious, silly, etc) that you need to shout to the void?!🗣️

i discovered a new little bookshop in my town and they had those blind date with a book package! i never had seen them before in real life (only on tiktok), so i was really excited 💗 at the same time, it felt scary to spend money on a book without knowing if i had read before or if it’s just not my style. in the end, i was actually very happy with my purchase ☺️
what do you guys think about the concept? because i don’t know if i’ll have the courage to try my luck a second time 🍀 if you’ve bought a package like that before, were you happy with the book you got?

Hi all,
This is the story: I have a monthly reading plan for my owned tbr. Not too ambitious. It should leave time to add a few library books and graphic novels each months. But I have the rule not to buy any new books if I cannot add it to the list within 12 months.
Now, I am currently reading a library book and because there were some stressful days and some where I was distracted by other things (Netflix honestly), I won’t meet this month’s goal. So I moved some books to the end of the list.
No big deal as it is my personal goal, but still it feels like I failed and K am annoyed with myself.
How would you feel and how are you handling not meeting your personal reading goals?

For me it's yeess 😭☝🏻 Reading helps me a lot to reduce screen time and slow down my mind. I mean like doom scrolling / too much watching shorts video increases my anxiety. My brain is receiving too much unimportant information until I don't have time to let it "think" just the way it should.
Reading and holding a physical book stimulates me. The reading process is hard for the first time but after days passed it's really good for me, my mental health, and everything.

Real quick… part 10?!?! Holy moly!! 10 weeks of complaining and supporting each other🫶🏼
You know the drill.. what was a complaint (no matter how big, small, dramatic, silly, serious, etc) that happened in the past week that you need to shout to the void?!💭

Although I generally think it is best when an author can explicitly state that a character is neurodivergent, I understand that we have only had terminology that allows this for a few decades — and even that terminology is ever-changing as we understand what neurodivergence more. After reading Shirley Jackson’s We Have Always Lived in the Castle, whose main character resonates with many neurodivergent readers, I started to wonder about other books with neurodivergent “coded” characters, especially those which were written in times when we did not have terms like autism, ADHD, and OCD.
I’m thinking maybe I’d like to make a list of such books, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for said list?
