Do y’all listen to music while you read? Those activities are very intertwined to me and I even sometimes make playlists for books I particularly love and I was wondering if y’all did something similar? Feel free to drop any favorite playlists (book related or otherwise) or book-y music-y thoughts below!
(edited because my keyboard was randomly in french and added accents all over the place )

Hii, I want to ask audio book enjoyers - where do you listen to your books? I'm someone who isn't very well acquainted with audiobook subscriptions and options, all I've listened to in the past is the free ones uploaded on YouTube. But I do really like them, I want to know your opinions on what's worth trying and what's worth paying money for.

If someone asks me who my least favourite book character is, I'll say this nameless fourth wall breaking male narrator that pops up between chapters and tells you to.... stop reading the book because it'll get less happy now? who mansplains literary concepts to the reader? tries to be profound but falls completely flat? gave me the biggest ick ever.
i liked gwen's relationship w her dad!

In one sitting, I can usually read for one to two hours. Then I need a break to stretch, eat, or do something else for a bit. If I push myself to read any longer, I start to feel mentally drained and lose interest in the story 🫢🤣 How about you? Maybe you're a hard (stronger) reader compared to me 😆

Hi everyone, we're considering making quite a big change to Pagebound and want to get the community's opinion - please leave your feedback here!
We have debated for a long while the merits of upvotes/downvotes vs a pure "like" system. We deeply believe in community moderation and community curation, and felt that an upvote/downvote system would provide the tooling for such community moderation.
In practice, we've also seen a lot of downsides with this system. While there's no guidance for how to use downvotes, many people use it as a "disagree" button which can make people with unpopular opinions feel unwelcome to share their opinion (for example, if you share that you dislike a beloved character, you may receive downvotes).
Moving to a "likes" only system would hopefully foster an environment where opinions are discussed rather than silently judged, and people are less anxious to engage in the forums.
In the past there have been some very strong opinions both for and against downvotes - let us know what you think below

As someone who loves queer sci-fi and butch/femme, non-binary, trans, and Indigenous rep, I had a lot of fun with this! I appreciate that most of the characters, especially the main ones, are flawed but relatable. I agree with others that there is some clunkiness. I really loved the Obake Code and think the second installment is more polished and poignant- if you’re here for the representation and are less of a plot-driven reader (like me, I am very forgiving in general re: plot), then I suggest reading this first. But if you think you may only get around to reading one of the two, I recommend the Obake Code! Just be warned that there are definitely spoilers for this book in the Obake Code :)
I highly recommend the audio book - speaking as someone not familiar with Hawaiian Pidgin, I think it helped with my comprehension and immersion to hear Jolene Kim’s narration. I also thought she did an excellent job with differentiating characters’ voices.

"Who is this person again?" followed by a few flips of the pages backwards is not uncommon in my daily life when I'm reading a book.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I have just recently returned to reading as a hobby, and how the times have changed my taste in reading books.
However, one thing about me is the same - I am very good at remembering faces, and very bad at remembering names. This includes name of songs, movies, titles, and most importantly, people, or in this case book characters.
Since I am not new to Crime as a genre, I know that there can be many characters including the perpetrator, victims, detectives, lawyers, judges, and members of jury - and how they are recognised by their Last Names, but sometimes referred to their First by their close friends, family members etc.
I didn't realise how much this would be an issue (to myself personally) when I read Crime/Thriller Books. I constantly have to flip a few pages, create a face for them, and then (try to) remember them from then on!
I am not complaining. I think it's fun and silly and it makes me more invested, especially when the realisation hits and I exclaim "Ohhh HIM!"
I wonder if anyone else "struggles" with this like I do, and I am wondering how do you "overcome" this? I am thinking of sticking a note at the front of the book that I can refer back to easily, so I'm wondering if anyone does the same🤣😁
