Tell me about your bookmarks! Are you the sort of person who uses whatever is closest? Like a receipt, scrap paper, pen, peg, hair tie or whatever fits between the pages?
Do you dog ear the page, leave the book flat face down, or just rip off the pages you've already read because who even needs them anymore?
Or are you the sort of person who has 1 billion bookmarks but always uses the same one (like me)?
My go to bookmark is the one my fav local book store gives out with purchases and a baby pink one that say "i like to yap about books" in hot pink on it that was given by a friend!

You get a slump, you get a slump, everybody gets a slump!
Is it just me or is everyone in a reading slump? I’m not in one, which probably makes this post kind funny but everyday I feel like I see a slump post so I’m wondering if July is just that girl. The slump girl.
I’m not really not in a slump I guess either tho. Idk why but I start the year off so strong every single year and then my reading is usually very bumpy up and down road to the end. I got a busy month tho so I am behind.
What about July do you think makes it a heavy slump month? Too many of the good summer reads in June so nothing stands up in July? Too hot?

hi everyone! :) i recently saw that many people dislike third person and much rather read first person. i read both of them but i definitely prefer third person because i think that pov switches work better that way and it hits more home for me idk. the “i” in first person makes me sometimes feel weird and i find it harder in moments to successfully escape into the story because of it. (no hate!) so i’m wondering, what do you guys prefer and why?
ps: i left second person out bc i haven’t read many books with it though feel free to share your thoughts!
edit: thanks for all of your takes!! so interesting to read your thoughts ✨

I don't like the info dumping. Every time I see ( I just know that there's something I'll have to google to understand. Or understand why it's even included in the (). I thought the (high) and (low) language was supposed to be formal and informal but now I'm even questioning that.

Sybil was selfish, arrogant, demeaning etc etc. Was she a human character? I suppose. Was she someone I felt empathy for? No and her life was not particularly interesting.
I feel through the letters she did not do enough to apologize to her daughter. She chose her neighbour to be her partner because he was close and she was going blind, there didnt appear to be any other reason.
This book made me angry, but it made me feel something so I guess thats a win overall?
