So something I noticed is that a lot of people whose careers are focused on book reviews and discussion don't end up getting high recognition for the books they've written themselves
The most recent example is Cindy Pham whose debut got a mostly negative response
Which I find really interesting considering Cindy's videos do a decent job at dissecting bad writing (even though to me at least Cindy focuses too much on line to line critiques than the full book overall, but I only watch their videos time to time)
And then I remembered book/writing creators like Jenna Moreci (I found one channel that dissed her book in like 6 seperate hour long videos) and others also get mostly mid receptions of their own books
In my opinion, I think that while the skill of dissecting someone's writing is still connected to the act of writing itself, it is still a seperate skill, and doesn't mean one is automatically good at both, but people think it does so they write a book regardless of their skill level
And I'm not trying to say that "content creators can't write books" because xjz wrote iron widow and is a youtuber and I've seen a lot of love for iron widow
I just think that people who percieve themselves as skilled in a thing don't always know how weak their skills are
What do you all think?

There isn't a big reader space on tumblr which leads to the fact that a lot of book characters do not get the tumblr sexymen treatment
So please feel free to nominate your favorite "could have been a tumblr sexyman" book character
Mine is Isaac from Thistlefoot

Um
How do you add images to comments?
I keep seeing others do that and I thought that was only a feature for people who have royalty status and then I see people who don't have that still post images????
There is probably an obvious answer but still would like hearing it 😅
Edit: FIGURED IT OUT!

maybe this is a really obvious connection (i heard 0 things abt this book before starting) but this feels like an allegory for Canadian history and Indigenous assimilation and I’m kinda digging it narratively

It's Different than the Anime
Manga and novels that offer more extensive storylines, different interpretations, or completely different storylines than their anime counterparts, but both are still worth checking out.
If you're looking for manga that's better than its anime interpretation, check out my list 'Don't Watch the Anime!'

Really good art book especially for beginners
We get some art tips at the start to better understand the process and the "how to-s" were really easy to follow!
Plus ABD is an excellent artist who is amazing at making character designs fun and diverse. I reccomend checking out his yt channel too! ^^

How are you all?? I thought about how different people here are just here because of just one particular interest...🪄 Reading and loving books.. 😉Apart from that everyone is different right?? Different ages, careers, interests... Would like to know you all and befriend you🤍

I just had my BACC (Baccalaureate) exam this morning on my undergrad English thesis and I passed 🥹 I've been an emotional wreck for the past couple hours since I walked out of the exam room. Thank you to those who sent me comforting words in other Pagebound Club posts, they meant so much to me 🫶
Has anyone else here completed a thesis (undergrad or otherwise) within the English discipline? What was it about??
My thesis was titled Objects Against Erasure: Literary Materiality in Tommy Orange's There There and Oscar Hokeah's Calling for a Blanket Dance. I couldn't have selected a better pairing of books to write and speak about. Orange and Hokeah eternally hold a special place in my heart ❤️

Don't Watch the Anime
Manga (and novels) that had disappointing anime adaptations (according to me). Series that only had piecemeal "greatest hits" OVAs will also be included. Series that fell off after a promising debut are also included. Series with one good adaptation but some bad ones are also included.
