What's something you recently read that really stuck with you?
Was it a lesson or revelation in the storyline, a specific line/quote that stuck out to you that you can't stop thinking about, a character arc?
Can be from any kind of book, no judgement!šø

Iām talking about stuff similar to the Tomato war which I somehow except for the original post completely missed š . Iāve also seen people saying yoink which I think means seeing one of your mutuals adding a book to their tbr and then also adding it to yours. So Iāve wanted to ask: A) Is my definition of yoinking correct? B) Is there any Pagebound specific lingo Iāve missed?

I was on tiktok and saw someone stitching a video response of a woman criticising a mm book. But thats not what i want to talk about ( this is the useless contex i add for no reason sometimesš) what i want to talk about is a comment in the video. The comment was
" i donāt understand why people canāt just say āit wasnāt for meā and move on. I am not here to yuck someoneās yum or criticize someoneās work. We canāt all like the same things, I get that, but Iām no hater." And the creator responded with "Yes!!!! Stop being haters, pleaseš„"
hate ( or more so criticism) is just as important as the love. its a book not a fanfic. people will criticise it. it will be criticised and analysed. there will be haters talking about how stupid the book is (im not talking about the book in the video here btw. im talking in general) and how the characters are also stupid. we cant all love the same wrork. wich is ultimately why people hate books. And criticize them.
Ofc we're not talking about ridiculous criticism that are not even about the book (like not being able to see yourself in the characters) or cruel criticism.
But what stood out to me is " I am not here to........or criticize someoneās work" because no. I AM here to criticise someones work. Especially when its a PUBLISHED book. I would agree if this was about fanfics but published book? No. Absolutely not. People are allowed to hate books.
Thats part of art. Art will be criticised or loved. And not every criticism will be deep and analytical. Sometimes even "it was boring" is still valid. Because at the end it WAS boring. I read it and it bored me why wouldn't that be valid? You might read it and find it fun amd nkt boring and yours would be valid too. Its subjective. Like, if you dont want your book to be criticised then write a fanfic, an original fanfic. Dont publish itš¤·āāļø.
I hope i explained this well. What do yall think?

With the weekend on the horizon what you planning on reading this weekend? Are you finishing a book? Starting one? Do you need a recommendation for a book?
I'm currently reading two. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross, I'm struggling to get into it. Do Admit: The Mitford Sisters and Me by Mimi Pond, it's a brilliant 450 page graphic novel biography.

Aurora wrote a review...
I don't think i've ever read a fanfic that was as gutwrenching and beautiful as this one. It will forever stay with me. I've read it 3 time already. For first time readers I do implore you to check the trigger warnings beforehand. It is DARK.
