I don't know if it's the super long paragraphs (usually a nonissue for me) or if it's the writing style but this isn't really...clicking. I'm gonna give it at least 1-2 chapters but if i'm not feeling anything, might shelve it for another time.

For me it’s just a man yapping about how life is hard for him.

Being a Brazilian living in Portugal reading a book about someone also divided by the same countries, it was so touching, talking about my state, the voice of a cearense, the book transcendent the story itself for me.

GENIUS, no other word to express this author that has her own way of presenting you the most beautiful and horrifying stories. The sadness and pain so deep in this book. I have no words for this masterpiece. Everyone should read Aline Bei.

The story being about the Medici right after I visited Florence it was exciting but the story itself it wasn’t so catchy to me. The way Maggie tells her stories is basically the same, the detailed description, which I love, she has a way of creating the moment and the place in my head, and the fact she gives a story and a voice to female characters forgotten it’s so powerful.

The beginning is better than the final part for sure. I had many expectations for this book, and unfortunately not as good as I thought it would be. The perspective of a woman who doesn’t want to have kids really got me, however as the book goes, I think the construction of then1sr part is not well developed in the 2nd. Still a great story, the violence of the motherhood to woman in this patriarchy and misogyny world is broken hearted.

No better book of any my Kuangs read. As an immigrant and as a South American, this thouches me in a very specific and deep place. The portrait of the exploitation is so realistic and mixed with the magical and mystic world she created, this blown my mind, nothing but a genius.

After I saw a meme on insta, it defines every read of Kuang for me. 🧠 here use it. Simply as that. Not an easy reading at all, but a must no doubt
