I love to read a variety of genres! Classics, romance, and YA fiction are my favorite. Sometimes historical stuff too. I love cuddling up on my bed on a rainy day with coffee, my dogs, and a book!!

Should I continue reading the Powerless trilogy or start with the red queen? (I’m loving powerless so far but I’ve been reading how it’s plagiarised) I’ve heard that they’re very similar so wondering what author to support and also what story is overall better and more interesting?

  • Classics

My random question for today... What was the first "classic" you read? Was it an assigned text? Did you enjoy it?

Mine was Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. I was in my early teens and read by choice from a selection of options layed out by my English teacher. I didn't dislike it, I just don't think I was ready for it. My teacher knew I wasn't ready for it and tried to warn me; she understood me. I wasn't an intellectually mature teen, but I did survive English Literature. I really think I need to reread it now, I think I would understand it.

Thank you to everyone who answers my questions. I appreciate each and every one of you.

  • Most comfortable reading position?

Lowkey I feel like there's no good reading position. Laying on your side? If your reading a physical book (not an ebook) its difficult to read. Laying on your stomach and looking down? After a few minutes it starts to hurt. Laying on your back and book against your legs propped up? Can also hurt your neck and bad lighting can make this out of the question.

Anyway you guys find a comfy reading position? I have yet to :(

  • Favorite Holiday/Season?

happy monday, friends! i hope everyone has made it through today in one piece, and if you have weekends off, that you enjoyed it!

i wanted to know, do you guys have a favorite time of year, or more specially, a holiday? and if so, do you like to base your reads around it?

for me, i love the end of the year because halloween and christmas are back to back (and i adore autumn)! i read horror year round, but sometimes i'll search out a christmas-y/wintery read when the time comes. a comedy that comes to mind that i read a few years back around christmas is Christopher Moore's The Stupidest Angel. it's not a GREAT book, but it's silly and got me in the winter mood.

all the best wishes going into this week!

  • Going in blind vs. reading the summary first 📚

Do you usually read the book summary before starting, or do you dive in completely blind?

I started A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking today without knowing anything about it, no blurb, no genre expectations, nothing. Now that I've started reading it, I realize it's a book I wouldn't normally pick up based on the description alone, but it’s been a pleasant surprise: lighthearted, funny, and unexpectedly charming.

It made me realize how often I actually read this way. Between being in multiple book clubs and joining what feels like a million Pagebound quests, I often just grab the book and start reading, especially with book club picks. I let myself be surprised from page one.

That said, I definitely still have plenty of books on my TBR because the summary hooked me. But I think I throw caution to the wind more than I realized 😅

So I’m curious: Do you prefer going into a book blind, or do you always read the summary first? Does it depend on the genre? Have you ever been glad you didn’t know what you were getting into, or totally burned by it? Do you have a favorite book you went into blind that totally surprised you?
