Heyy, I didn't see any other post for this and wanted to know your guys's opinions so I hope I didn't overlook another postš. I was wondering how many of you guys ( if any) counted an abridged version of a book as reading the book? š¤I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I like reading the original version rather than the shortened one. How do you guys feel?

The thing you dread or look forward to?
I think for me itās a bit of both. I like the organization of it all, except the trinkets that accompany my books can be tedious and hard to clean.

Does listening to a book instead of reading impact the way you experience it? I've noticed when I actually read the words I imagine more of the story, like the world around the characters, their every movement, kinda like a mini movie. It's a lot more tiring, but it's there. When I listen to audiobooks I'm usually doing chores or other things, so ig that impacts why I can't picture as many things, but even when I'm commuting/road trip listen I still find it hard to make an image
I will lose myself in the narration definitely, but it's very obvious that I'm listening to something, instead of being transported to another world. It's more words versus picture. Idk that doesn't make the experience less entertaining for me but it's definitely different, and there were times where when I came back to read the same book on written format I also didn't form images for said story

Hello my fellow pageboundlingsšāāļø
2 months into the new year I wanted to see how everyone's reading journals are moving along!āØļøš·šæ
This year I finally committed to a brand new reading journal (which I'd never done before), inspired and motivated by the lovely community here! I realized that I could set up the journal however I wanted(what a surprise haha), and decided to not log daily progress, or reviews etc., which are things that I already do & prefer to do here and on SG.
Instead, I chose to focus on what I love most - which is drawing! Plus some smaller challenges, such as adding 5 new countries to the read around the world challenge on SG ^^
My main goal is to draw every book I read this year, and while I'm currently 8 books behind (due to a February of surprisingly much reading), I'm enjoying the process a lot! This is how it looks so far, started out a bit wonky and then improved quite a bit - drawing miniature format is not always easy but a fun challenge!
Apart from this I'm drawing a cover page for every month, and try to journal at least once a month - but otherwise I don't put too much pressure on myself and try to enjoy the journey!
I'd love to hear (& seeš¤) how everyone else's journals are looking, what you focus on, and how you approach journaling!
P.S.: on the web you can see the photo I embedded- trying to make it work on the app rn!

Okay, letās be honest. Books are usually better than the movies. Usually. But sometimes the movie shows up, steals the spotlight, and leaves the book crying in the corner.
Whatās the one adaptation that made you go, āOkay wow⦠that was actually better than the book?ā
For me, itās If I Stay. I watched that movie as a teenager at least a hundred times and sobbed every single time. Full emotional collapse. The book? I mean⦠I cried. Three or four tears. Respectable. Polite. But the movie? Devastating. Emotionally violent. Absolutely no survivors.

Currently trying to put together my March reading plan and I'm wanting to read a couple more quest books, and I'm just curious what other people's opinions are:
Would you rather work towards getting more new badges and keeping them at bronze until you've got all the quest badges you want, or would you rather work towards getting higher badges (sapphire/emerald/ruby) and just stick with fewer badges (for the moment) because of the higher tiers?
It's something I've been pondering for a while and I can't decide between them, on the one hand I love seeing so many badges on my stats page but on the other hand I have one sapphire badge and that is my pride and joy at the moment!

since discovering ebooks iāve become very, very selective with my physical books ā often i only pick up copies of my favourite books.
what are your most treasured physical books? these can be special/collectorās editions, covers featuring beautiful artwork, or copies with sentimental value.
iāve been obsessed with slowly collecting the Vintage Classics Woolf series. sheās one of my favourite authors and i just think the small square-ish proportions and abstract covers by Finnish artist Aino-Maija Metsola are so lovely.

my heart also yearns for this illustrated Folio Society collection of His Dark Materials š¤©

I mean, I chose the witch because I would love to be a witch, but I'm curious if that's the way other Boundlings choose across the board. (That said, I would jump at a dryad avatar.)
And for those of you who use the ghost or food/beverage ones... obviously this doesn't apply, right?š
