Dramatic battles, tense political intrigue, unique world building...and is that maybe some romance I'm sensing? These books are not Romantasy but focus primarily on the SFF elements. Romance is a subplot and may not appear until later in the series, but when it does, you won't be disappointed.

These books are always so fun!! I was worried going in that this second book wouldn’t be as enjoyable to me as the first book and I’m very glad to have been wrong. This story was just as funny and theatrical as the first and I very much enjoyed Charlotte and Alex as main characters. They were also just as raunchy as Cecilia and Ned were in the first book. The only thing I didn’t love was how a lot of the scenes after the halfway point felt like they could have been the climax of the story and then it just kept going. It made the actual ending less impactful to me. But still lots of fun and I can’t wait to read the third book!

I really did enjoy reading this even for a YA book! I loved the bachelor style set up and all the ladies getting to know each other. Getting the additional chapters from the perspective of the other important people was super enjoyable and made me understand each character so specifically. This alternate universe set up was also very enjoyable and thought out. But, my main complaint is the ending of the book. Everything speeds up so fast that there was basically an entire book in the last 5 or so chapters. But instead we zoomed through all those scenes and I would have loved to explore the feelings and emotions of the characters more while all that was going on. I still really liked this book but that ending probably knocked this down a half star or so. I’m also a little wary of the second book and if I’ll enjoy it but I’ll still give it a shot!
