I've read several of Kingfisher's books this year, and one thing I keep thinking about is that I really enjoy her description of religion and the ways religion plays a role (big or small) in the characters lives. Given that religion is used in so many terrible, terrible, ways in our world it feels like a breath of fresh air to use the fantasy format to depict religious practices which are actually quite nice.

I really needed something cozy and uncomplicated, and that's exactly what I got. Very likeable characters and all in all a lovely found family-story.
